Hello Lizzy!

Untitled

Look what beautiful little lady opened her left eye yesterday! Luckily my mom and I were here when she looked out on to the world for the first time. We're anxiously awaiting the second eye opening up.

Saturday was a bit of a roller-coaster day for us. Elizabeth was up and down on her oxygen concentration levels all day. She seemed uncomfortable a lot, and at one point, when her temperature probe came undone, her bed heated up, causing her to overheat, which raised her heart rate to over 200. She's spoiled us with her steadiness up until this point, and the doctors and nurses had warned us that this wouldn't be permanent. I just wasn't prepared and was emotionally drained by the end of the day.

On Monday, Lizzy is having a brain ultrasound to check for any bleeding on her brain. We are praying that her lungs are the only challenge she has to contend with and her brain will be fine. Lizzy and I are also doing kangaroo care tomorrow, when she gets to come out of the incubator and lay on my chest for a few hours. I cannot wait! I think I'm going to have to have a box of Kleenex at my side.

Thank you for all of your continued support, prayers and comments!

Hello sweet Lizzy!

I hope her brain ultrasound goes well. Jordan had a grade 4 brain bleed and when they did her ultrasound they gave us an awful prognosis, but I'm happy to say that they were wrong! I guess what I'm trying to say is that Lizzy is beautiful and tough and she can achieve whatever she sets her mind to.

Enjoy your kangaroo time! That's truly special. Yes, lots of Kleenex!

I know it's scary right now. I was in your shoes a little over 12 years ago. Now, you look at my son and you would never guess he was born prematurely.Just keep being there for her the way you are right now. Enjoy your kangaroo care time with Lizzy! {{{hugs}}

Aww, how lovely to see Lizzy open an eye. That is such a special moment. My sister says Lizzy is the picture of you with her eye open! I really hope the brain ultrasound went well. I am thinking about her a lot and hope my prayers are answered. Enjoy the time spent with her on your chest. That will feel really special. xx

She kind of looks like she's saying "Hey! Keep it down out there! I'm trying to get some sleep!" hee hee! So glad you were there to capture the moment. I can't wait until we hear about your Kangaroo care experience...you probably WILL need a box of Kleenex, but that is what it is made for. Ups and downs and the emotion of it are kind of part of parenting in general, I think...only less intense...so she was just getting your mom muscles all warmed up for the journey. We continue to pray for the miraculous and that she has so many consistently successful days that she confounds the doctors! We continue to pray blessings over all who touch her, her chart, her meds, anything that comes into contact with her. Let EVERY thing that touches Lizzie in ANY WAY be a Blessing!!! HUGS and PRAYERS!!
