Hi there! It's me, Lizzy (or Elizabeth if you're daddy), here to share an update on how I'm doing.
At two weeks and 4 days old I:
Have come off the ventilator, which makes my mommy & daddy so extremely proud. This also means that all of the lovely people who prayed for me had their prayers answered. I am now wearing some pretty big hardware on my head known as a CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) that allows me to do all of the work at breathing, but helps me out a bit by keeping my oxygen levels up and keeps my lungs from collapsing when I exhale. My biggest challenge will be keeping it on my nose, since I'm such a wiggle worm and I like to move around a lot!
Weigh 1 lb. 7 oz., but that fluctuates based on if I've filled my diaper. Mommy & daddy said that they can't wait until I get rid of my saggy skin and get some fat rolls. I'm workin' on it!
Am eating 13ml (or CCs) of breast milk eight times a day. I'm starting to get cranky and squirmy when it is time for my feed. I'm getting used to the full feeling & I'm starting to like it!
Have both eyes open, but for the moment they're big and black, like shark eyes. Mommy was a bit concerned, but the nurses told her that this is totally normal.
Get really mad when someone tries to mess with me, but this has been the same since day one. Changing diapers & getting weighed are not my favorite parts of the day. I kick my legs and flail my arms around to let everyone know I'm mad. All of the nurses know how mad I get and group everything together (like getting my temperature, blood pressure, changing diaper, etc.) so that I can have lots of time without negative stimulation.
Love kangaroo care with mommy & daddy. We all relax and everything feels normal for a couple of hours. I make sure to drool all over mommy & daddy's chest. They don't seem to mind at all!
Thank you so much for thinking and praying for me!

A prayer and a kiss from far away
that is truly awesome...so glad she is doing well.
Dear Lizzy, I am so happy to hear of your amazing progress. I continue to pray for you and check Mummy's blog for any updates and photos of you so regularly. Kisses, Anne xx
Well done Baby Girl!!! You are doing GREAT and we can't wait for you to come and play. Keep on drooling on Mommy and Daddy... they see it as a badge of Mommy and Daddyhood and wear it oh so proudly!
Since Mommy and Daddy peeked and found out that you were a little girl, I think that it is just fine that you keep your eye color a secret for a while - a secret that only you know and will tell when you are ready! Secrets can be fun surprises!
Keep growing and learning little one! :-)
Oh, Miss Lizzie, I can tell you are already a girl with a can-do attitude!!! GREAT WORK coming off that ventilator! You DID IT! On that holding still thing, chances are you will struggle with that until your 30, so no worries. We cannot wait to see what color your eyes will be...I'll bet they're gorgeous no matter the color. You keep eating and growing and getting stronger, little miss and we will keep praying!
So happy to hear from you, Lizzy. I cannot wait to hear more about the great things that you'll be doing!
